An epicurean adventure awaits you at South Place Hotel in London’s East End. Perfect for a luxurious city staycation, South Place Hotel is the first hotel from acclaimed restaurateurs, D&D London.

South Place Hotel, a lively boutique retreat in the City of London, is perfectly positioned for guests to discover the very best of the city, with an enviable location just moments from Liverpool Street Station.

From wining and dining at the hotel’s Michelin-starred restaurant and sampling local cocktails, to exploring nearby attractions by bike, the hotel offers the ultimate city staycation.

South Place invites guests to explore the city on wheels, with unlimited use of its canary yellow bicycles. Pedal around East London’s inspiring art scene, edgy fashion districts and bustling markets before exploring cultural favourite the Barbican, foodie destination Borough Market and historical sites such as the Tower of London, all just a short spin away. Speaking of spinning, South Place also offers guests unlimited use of the hotel gym during their stay.

After a day of exploration, sip something sweet at 3 Bar, South Place’s lively cocktail venue.

End the day at one of Shoreditch’s quirky bars and clubs or enjoy a nightcap in the Secret Garden, the hotel’s enchanting outdoor terrace, complete with waterfalls, palm trees and seasonal installations.

Intended to echo its achingly cool East End surroundings, the hotel and each of its 80 luxuriously appointed bedrooms feature a low-lit monotone design with Bang & Olufsen TV, Nespresso machine, fully stocked minibar and electric blackout blinds with touch panel mood lighting.

Each of the 80 rooms also features a French marble bathroom with rain shower, bathtub, complimentary luxe toiletries (including bath salts) and fluffy bathrobes & towels. The luxurious bathroom also features mood lighting for a relaxing way to soak away the day in the deep bathtub.

The hotel is also the ideal venue for meetings & events with five fabulous private rooms, from the Secret Garden to a games room, to meetings or dancing and dining with capacities from six to 200. The hotel also offers guests the use of a gym and wellness suite with a steam room and sauna.

The hotel boasts two amazing restaurants – enjoy a laid-back dinner at South Place Chop House or indulge in a Michelin-starred dining experience at Angler.

Led by Head Chef, Jake O’Riley, Chop House celebrates the finest seasonal British produce and adopts the ‘nose-to-tail’ culinary philosophy – a food-waste reducing approach to cooking where every part of each ingredient is used in the process.

Guests can enjoy a leisurely breakfast seated in the South Place Chop House with a wide choice of crowd-pleasing yummies including delicious all-butter pastries such as croissant, pain au chocolat and pain aux raisins for those who love classic Viennoiserie with their fresh juice to start the day.

For those with an appetite in the morning, we highly recommend the Full English Breakfast of Cumberland sausage, streaky bacon, slow-roasted tomato, field mushroom, baked beans, Cumbrian black pudding and choice of eggs. Everything apart from the eggs also feature as Sides for those wanting to add some Britishness to other choices on the brunch menu. Other Sides include Hash Brown, Crushed Avocado with chilli & lime and Sourdough Toast with cultured English butter.

For something altogether lighter, the Oak Smoked Salmon and Scrambled Eggs are a delicious choice accompanied with sourdough toast. The scrambled eggs at South Place Hotel are excellent both in flavour and texture which is a sign of chef excellence thanks to the unmistakable influence that D&D London has had when working on the Food & Beverage offering at the hotel.

South Place Chop House is also the place to be for a fabulous weekend bottomless brunch with a crowd-pleasing menu that includes British favourites, American classics and of course traditional brunch dishes – there’s something to suit all tastes and dietary requirements including vegan options.

Brunch starters include Angus Steak Tartare and Grilled Octopus with smoked cod’s roe, extra virgin olive oil and sweet paprika. This cold starter is the perfect way to begin an indulgent brunch with friends and the octopus has been perfectly cooked and is presented with flair.

Other Brunch starters to enjoy include American Style Pancakes and Formans London Cure Smoked Salmon with watercress, rye bread and horseradish cream. The world-famous London Cure smoked Scottish salmon from H. Forman & Son is a gourmet delight that is not to be missed and is complemented by the fluffy cloud of horseradish cream.

Mains such as Eggs Benedict and Waffles sit alongside more filling options. We loved the Crispy Prawn Burger – visually arresting in its charcoal bun and a very tasty alternative to the typical burgers served at other brunches elsewhere. The burger is served with bright yellow saffron aioli, peppery Dorset watercress and very moreish garlic fries.

Or for something quintessentially English, you can’t beat the excellent Beer Battered Haddock with minted mushy peas, tartare sauce & hand cut chips. This is definitely what one would describe as a very generous portion for lovers of traditional fish & chips. The chips are super chunky but still managed to be light and fluffy inside with a satisfying crisp texture on the outside.

If you’ve saved room for Dessert, we highly recommend the very British Sticky Toffee Pudding. Those following a vegan or dairy-free lifestyle need not miss out on pudding thanks to the seductively scrumptious “Milk” Chocolate Ganache served with English raspberries and raspberry sorbet. It’s rare to find a vegan dessert that can truly match up to its non-vegan rivals on a dessert menu but the talented chefs at South Place have managed to create a vegan dessert which we think will please even the most discerning chocolate lover – vegan or not!

For brunch at South Place Hotel, any 2 courses is £25 and any 3 courses is £29 with bottomless Bubbles, Bellinis & Mimosas for an extra £25 or Rosé bubbles for an additional £28.
