With nearly three in ten Brits naming doughnuts as their favourite sweet treat, the classic jam doughnut still reigns supreme, with 51% choosing it as the nation’s number one filling, closely followed by custard.
But one of Britain’s best-loved snacks has just had a bold new glow-up thanks to Tracklements Fresh Chilli Jam.

Ingredients
- 225g strong white bread flour
- ½ tsp salt
- 1 tbsp golden caster sugar
- 15g unsalted butter, melted
- 7g fast-action yeast
- 125ml warm water
- 1 egg
- Vegetable oil, for frying
- 210g jar Tracklements Fresh Chilli Jam
- Caster sugar, for coating
Method
1. Place all the ingredients, except the vegetable oil, Tracklements Fresh Chilli Jam and caster sugar for coating, into a large bowl. Mix together and knead for 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
2. Divide the dough into eight equal portions and shape into balls. Place on a lightly greased tray and leave to prove until doubled in size.
3. Heat the vegetable oil in a deep pan over a medium heat. Carefully deep-fry the doughnuts until golden brown all over. Remove, drain on kitchen paper and toss in caster sugar while still warm.
4. Allow the doughnuts to cool completely. Spoon the Tracklements Fresh Chilli Jam into a piping bag fitted with a narrow nozzle. Make a small hole in the side of each doughnut and pipe in the jam filling.
