The amazing benefits of gold used in skincare are not always well known. With my medical training behind me and my experience in beauty pageants as a contestant, I’ve been keen to investigate the role this precious metal plays in protecting and keeping our skin young.

Gold is an antioxidant
Metals and in particular gold protect our skin from oxidation caused by sun rays and pollution. Gold acts as a barrier preventing damage to the DNA of skin cells that leads to formation of facial lines and ageing of the skin.
Gold is anti-inflammatory
I know the problem of skin inflammation only too well, as I have to wear hospital grade masks during my long shifts at work – giving me pimples and spots. People with psoriasis, acne and rosacea – other forms of skin inflammation – would also benefit from using skincare that contains gold.

Gold is a carrier
Gold not only acts as a protector and anti-inflammatory agent, it also helps the absorption of other active beneficial ingredients into the deeper layers of the skin. Also, gold helps to increase the metabolism of skin cells and promote their regeneration.
Gold was used by Cleopatra
Legendary Egyptian queen Cleopatra already knew over 2000 years ago about the anti-ageing properties of gold. She used a golden facial mask every night to increase the lustre of her complexion. Cleopatra might have been well ahead of her time, but she didn’t know then that gold in liquid form is the optimal way to achieve results.

My skincare regime
Bearing in mind what I learnt about the amazing benefits of gold, I was delighted to come across the Cetuem SCR Gold skincare range when I was competing for the Miss England title. Unlike many other ‘gold-infused’ products on the market, Cetuem is science-backed. The 24 carat gold used is liquid gold, the most scientifically-proven version of gold that is the most easily absorbed into the skin. SCR stands for Skin Cell Regeneration, a justified claim, as gold helps promote skin cell renewal.
Primarily developed as anti-ageing skincare products, the range also has some remarkable healing properties. After a rather unwise episode of burning my skin in the sun – I’d used too much retinol and not enough sunscreen – I used 3 products for only 3 days and my skin literally healed overnight!
SCR Gold Intensive Serum
An anti-ageing serum that helps to protect the skin from damage and improve skin texture, tone and elasticity. The formula is based on a blend of natural ingredients such as extracts of willow bark and other plant and marine extracts, hyaluronic acid, pure 24 carat gold, vitamins A, C and E.
SCR Gold Booster Serum
With added Vitamin C Plus, this concentrated serum in liquid form boosts the anti-ageing and healing properties of the Intensive Serum.
SCR Gold Creme de Lite
Originally developed to treat skin pigmentation problems, this moisturiser used together with the serums, has accelerated the swift healing process.
